Job Description
Emergency Medical Technician – Full Time Position Granby Ambulance Association, Inc Granby, CT 06035 Full-time EMTs will work a rotating schedule of weekdays, weeknights, weekends, and holidays, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. EMTs will work in both the Granby and East Granby stations as assigned, in both ambulances and intercept vehicles as assigned. EMTs will work with paramedics and other EMTs who may be volunteers, staff, trainees and students. Overtime shifts are offered on an as needed basis and participation is encouraged. Full-time EMTs are subject to be ordered-in for shift work.
Daily duties include:
Proper use of time clock upon arrival and ending of shifts Provide basic life support on scene and during transports Drive company vehicles with due regard for the safety of others, and with the reputation of the company in mind Perform daily accountability checks on vehicles, equipment and building; use of online platform for documentation is required. Notify supervisor of issues with vehicles, equipment, stock in buildings, buildings in general, and issues that arise during calls for service using online platform; emergencies should communicated via phone. Complete all patient care reports (PCRs) within 8 hours of disposition including ensuring successful fax transmission to destination hospital Auxiliary task(s) as assigned by GAA leadership Candidate must possess and maintain for successful employment: Current Connecticut EMT certification without disciplinary action, with a minimum of two years of EMT experience AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR) certification Desire and demonstrated ability to work well with volunteers and staff members Clean driving record Basic knowledge of the internet for scheduling platform, PCR platforms, Microsoft programs, and others. Candidates for employment must complete a Granby Ambulance Association application, provide authorization for background checks and a driving record check, submit to drug screening, fit for duty physical and agility exams, provide a resume with references (employee candidates only) and provide a copy of all EMS licenses/certifications and a valid, current driver’s license. 2. All qualified applicants will be interviewed for the position within a reasonable timeframe. 3. Upon a successful interview, a background check, driving record assessment and a check of references will be performed by GAA. 4. Upon successful checks and references, the candidate will be referred to GAA’s occupational health provider for a drug screening and a fit-for-duty physical exam and agility exam. 5. Upon successful results from examinations, the candidate is a probationary employee to be field trained to GAA’s satisfaction. 6. Employment is on an at-will basis. If a candidate cannot successfully complete any of the pre-employment process checks or exams, or a probationary period of at least 90 days, employment may not be granted.
