Job Description

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Practice Manager and General Surgeons, the Clinical Office Coordinator performs a wide variety of responsibilities and support to the physician.

Job Functions:
  • Greet patients upon arrival, maintains orderliness of reception area and Front desk ensuring patient confidentiality. ?
  • Answer phones and retrieves and distributes messages appropriately. ?
  • Processes patients quickly and accurately through the computer based scheduling system for future appointments, surgeries and/or testing as appropriate for patient care. ?
  • Orders necessary office and medical supplies and insures security of all medications. ?
  • Captures and enters high quality patient demographic and financial information via telephone interviews and hard copy (mail-in, facsimile, etc.) ?
  • Identifies insurance coverage and payer requirements for hospital services, processes insurance verification and other basic benefits information for patients, as necessary. ?
  • Communicates with physicians’ offices and staff in a timely and professional manner. ?
  • Maintains and supports patient’s rights to care, privacy and respect. ?
  • Schedules and coordinate surgical procedures with the hospital and the patient ?
  • Enters daily and surgical billing charges to Athena ?
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. ?

Experience:

One to three years Administrative Assistant/Medical Office preferred. ? Licensure and/or

Certification:

Graduate of a Medical Assistant/Secretary program preferred. ?

Skills:

?

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and moderate keyboarding is required. ?
  • Knowledge of GE Centricity to access and utilize electronic medical records preferred. ?
  • Knowledge of Athena based scheduling/billing software helpful ?
  • Strong customer service skills. ?
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented with strong ability to multi-task required. ?
  • Familiarity with medical terminology preferred. ?
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. ?
  • Knowledge of patient billing, account processes, third party billing and revenue cycle preferred. ?
  • Ability to maintain confidential information required.
