Job Description

This Rehabilitation Counselor in Charge (CIC) position is in the Whiteville Satellite Office and housed at East Columbus High School. The selected candidate will provide day to day supervision for the satellite offices in Columbus County and provide casework supervision for two school caseloads.

Job responsibilities include:

Provide direct casework supervision to 2 Rehabilitation Counselor assisting with job development, job placement and other services needed to complete a rehabilitation plan for employment for high school student in transition. Administrative management tasks to include casework approvals to ensure quality service delivery for the assigned coverage area, budget development and performance management/improvement. Staff development/training, and consultation/technical assistance to subordinate staff. Community Outreach to promote agency awareness. Foster collaborative relationship with local school systems Work may include other related assignments as determined by Unit Manager. The DHHS Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) promotes employment and independence for persons with disabilities through customer partnership and community leadership.

Ability to communicate casework policies and procedures to staff. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, family members, and various professional and specialty services involved in the rehabilitation process. Management Preferences Good interpersonal skills and experience working with people with disabilities. Knows VR policy/procedure and can train and work with inexperienced counselors. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Masters degree in rehabilitation counseling or counseling from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience as a rehabilitation counselor; OR Current certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission of Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC), and two years of experience as a rehabilitation counselor; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
