York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State.
The Department Chair•Surgical Technology performs the following functions:

Academic Leadership:

Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of curricula for the Surgical Technology programs, ensuring alignment with industry standards and accreditation requirements.

Faculty Supervision:

Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty members within the department, fostering a collaborative and supportive teaching environment.

Student Support:

Advise and mentor students, providing guidance on academic progression and career opportunities.

Program Management:

Manage program budgets, resources, and scheduling to optimize departmental operations.

Community Engagement:

Establish and maintain partnerships with local healthcare providers and organizations to support program development and student placement opportunities.

Compliance and Accreditation:

Ensure all programs meet accreditation standards, including maintaining necessary documentation and facilitating accreditation processes.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Associate degree from an accredited institution
Current valid approved credential in Surgical Technology (CST or CST/CFA)
At least five years of experience in the field
Demonstrated proficiency in the following computer programs is required: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Must have proof of valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
Must have a satisfactory health and immunization record, be certified in CPR for the Health Care Provider and fulfill any additional requirements established by the Health and Human Services division and participating clinical agencies.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous teaching experience in a Surgical Technology program or clinical affiliate required with demonstrable proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design and program planning experience is preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in curriculum development and assessment
Experience using Microsoft Office programs in a professional setting
Strong leadership and organizational abilities
