Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Weekend Team Lead to oversee our weekend pet care operations. This is a hands-on leadership position—while you will be managing the weekend team and client schedule, you will also be scheduled to actively perform pet care visits in the field each day. You will serve as the main point of contact for weekend staff and clients, handling all day-to-day scheduling, staff coordination, and on-the-ground pet care needs. You’ll be expected to lead by example, demonstrate professionalism, and ensure each pet in our care receives the high level of service Dog Days is known for.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and support the weekend Pet Care Assistant team Perform daily field visits including pet sitting, dog walking, feeding, administering medications, and more Ensure client care plans are followed with precision and compassion Monitor and adjust staffing and visit schedules as needed throughout the day Address and resolve any client, pet, or staffing concerns that arise during the weekend Conduct Meet & Greet consultations with new clients, explaining our services and pricing clearly and professionally Accurately create and upload detailed pet care plans and visit notes into client profiles Serve as a real-time liaison between the weekend team and the manager and business owner Ensure seamless transitions from weekend care to weekday coverage by updating necessary records and communicating key details
Required Qualifications:
Leadership or supervisory experience, ideally within a small or mid-size team Previous hands-on experience in animal care (dog walking, pet sitting, veterinary, etc.) Strong knowledge of animal behavior and safety protocols, including for very large dogs Excellent communication and organizational skills Professionalism and maturity in handling both staff and client communications Ability to confidently lead Meet & Greet consultations, provide service overviews, answer client questions, and complete detailed care documentation Comfortable with administrative responsibilities including schedule adjustments, phone/email communication, and using pet care software Must be available to work both Saturday and Sunday, primarily during daytime hours, with flexibility for occasional evening coverage Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a smartphone Must be 21 years old or older
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using pet care scheduling apps CPR/Pet First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Prior client service experience
