4/15/25 Job Summary The Sleep Tech performs independently and with self-initiative under indirect supervision. They are required to perform a variety of duties within their realm of knowledge/training and at a technical level maintaining a high standard of patient care and confidentiality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Professional Responsibilities:
Use professional and ethical judgement and critical thinking when performing their duties. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Participates in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills for continued competence. Ability to work as a team member. Attention to detail. Basic understanding of computer technology. Ability to work in a stressful environment. Ability to follow directions/instructions from his/her supervisor. Consistent attendance is required to ensure that the client facilities’ needs and patient needs are met. Comply with all the facilities’ policies, procedures and practices.
Core Duties:
Sleep Tech is expected to practice safe procedures and always adhere to safety measures. Performing ordered sleep study per department policy and procedure. Communicating with physicians as needed with regards to testing. Verifying identity of patient prior to performing exam. Displaying accountability for tasks assigned to them. Participating in educational opportunities in use of new equipment and/ or procedures. Completion of necessary paperwork and/or computer functions. Adhering to department and SCRMC policy and procedures and SCRMC Performance Standards. Keeping area clean, neat, safe and stocked with needed supplies. Assisting in all areas of the department as needed. Participating in Quality Improvement. Displaying proficiency in operation of equipment. Explains procedure and processes to patient Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Certified Polysomnographic Technician preferred but not required. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist preferred but not required.
