5/22/2025 Job Summary Performs the day to day duties of a clerk. Receiving and logging in specimens. Making phone calls and faxing reports. Answering the telephone and answering questions. Maintaining work flow promptly. Coordinating and prioritizing workload. Filing as needed. Delivering and centrifuging specimens. Handling reference lab specimens. Maintains education units on Health Stream. Making copies as needed. Informs supervisor and director of issues. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist anyone who comes to the front counter or in the office area. Logs in specimens and delivery to the correct departments, informing techs of STATS. Answers telephone and take messages, place phone calls as needed. Uses Computer to full extend of security code. Prints extra barcodes as needed. Follow ups sent out to reference labs, plus helps with all calls related to specimen requirements, logging and corrective action. Takes orders to out-patient for hospital numbers or pre-admits patient’s orders. Assist nursing service, doctors, clinics, etc. in locating lab work, ordering and requirement of lab testing. Calls for recollections and ensures specimen labeling. Fills out reportable events and other reporting needed. Make copies or sends through Cerner test results for physicians, patient, or other hospital areas. Omnifax reports. Documents any needed information. Minimum Requirements Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
