Licensed Practical Nurse

REPORTS TO

Director of Nursing

DESCRIPTION

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for assisting in the coordination and provision of patient health care services. The Licensed Practical Nurse works as a member of the program nursing team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completes timely and accurate patient monitoring of vitals and baseline screeners (COWS, CIWA, Falls Assessment, Pain Scale, etc.).
• Administers and notes reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
• Ensure proper storage of all medications and medical supplies in accordance with state regulations.
• Keep program staff informed of health issues as they arise.
• Write daily health care progress notes in patients’ electronic health records.
• Maintain current and complete medical files.
• Assists in patient education regarding substance use diagnosis and treatment.
• Facilitates patient education sessions on medical topics inclusive but not limited to: HIV, Infectious Disease, MAT options, tobacco cessation, harm reduction.
• Participate in routine direct care activities as needed.
• Assist patients and staff with emergency evaluations and treatments.
• Participate in in-service staff trainings and attend weekly staff meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Requirements

• Nursing Degree from an accredited school.
• Current Massachusetts State License as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain certification throughout employment.
• One year of nursing experience in a behavioral health setting.
• Satisfactory criminal background check. Competencies

Job Type:

Full-time Pay:

$31.00 – $42.00 per hour
