LPN-Kolton Wayne/Campbell Lodge Generations Gaithers Inc. 3100 Crisp Springs Road, McMinnville, TN 37110 DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for completing the following duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures. Must be knowledgeable of nursing policies and procedures; administration of medication, possible side effects, and treatment as prescribed; federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to service recipient’s care; comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices; physical psychological social, and medical needs of service recipient. The person holding this position will provide, oversee, and/or administer medication to service recipients of housing facilities. Will manage monthly prescriptions for service recipients. Provide assessments of medical issues. Will be contacted for MD/Pharmacy/NP communications. Must be willing to be on-call at least one full week per month, or as requested, and able to respond to facility if needed within one hour when on-call. May be required to travel, locally, from time to time. Responsible for maintaining adequate malpractice insurance as required by Generations Health Association, Inc.
Functions:
Responsible for nursing care of service recipients in Generations/Gaither’s housing facilities. Recognize significant changes in conditions of service recipients. Prepare and administer medications. Prepare and administer prescribed treatments as ordered by the physician/NP. Maintain and complete service recipient electronic health record including, but not limited to: placing and updating MAR as necessary, progress notes according to level of care, and all other documentation as required in housing facilities. Completes nursing assessments according to level of care…. (Supportive Living-upon admission and monthly) (Enhanced/ARTF-upon admission, monthly & semi-annually) Coordinates with Mental Health Center staff for lab appointments. PCP, medication management and therapy appointments, and other ancillary appointments. Schedules specialty appointments for service recipients. Assists with housing clients one day per week at Generations Mental Health Center completing vitals, BMI, AIMS, UDS, labs, Genesight testing, and coordinating information to and from providers. Verify inventory of drugs covered by Controlled Substances Act of 1970. Consult with Nursing supervisor, Nurse Practitioner, and administrative supervisor when necessary. Assist in interpreting goals and objectives to Generations clinical staff. Administer parenteral, intramuscular, and subcutaneous injections as ordered by physician/NP. Administer physical and PPD injections to employees of Generations upon hire and updated annually as needed. Personally receive or place calls with the physician/NP. Communicate orders from physician/NP to pharmacy and with service recipients of Generations. Review medications and manifest from pharmacy. Distribution of medications from the pharmacy to housing facilities. Checking medications with prescriptions and MARs. Updating MARs as required. Be sensitive to service recipient’s family network and respond in an appropriate, professional manner. Assist in Treatment Team decisions involved in admissions and discharges of service recipients of housing facilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Stands and walks most of the working day.
WORKING CONDITIONS
: Must have a genuine interest in working with mentally ill persons. Must possess a willingness to conform to unusual situations.

QUALIFICATIONS
:
Education:
Must be a graduate of a state approved school of vocational/practical or professional nursing. Must hold a current, un-encumbered license in this state as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse. Registered with the state board of registration in the state of Tennessee.
Experience:
Prefer at least six months nursing experience in mental health.
