Are you a skilled individual eager to start a career in the medical field? Ankle and Foot Associates is Tampa’s premier center for treating complicated foot and ankle injuries. With offices in South Tampa and Temple Terrace, we are looking for a dedicated full-time, on-site Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our practice. In this role, you will support the doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.
What You Will Do:
Handle all administrative duties including, but not limited to, scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and answering phone calls. Warmly greet patients and visitors, ensuring a friendly and professional first impression. Perform general office duties, including filing, faxing, scanning, and copying documents. Record and update medical history and contact information in the electronic health record (EHR) system. Prepare exam rooms for minor surgical procedures. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the waiting room, podiatrists’ office and other parts of the facility. Perform foot measurements for ordering diabetic shoes and orthotics, ensuring accurate sizing and a comfortable fit for patients. Complete forms required for labs such as cultures and pathology, ensuring accurate and timely communication with laboratories. Assist in performing the ABI (Ankle-Brachial Index) exam when directed by the physician, following established protocols and documenting results accurately. Follow up on referrals and results of MRI/CT imaging, home health, ensuring timely communication with the physician and patients. Provide excellent customer service to patients, addressing their concerns and ensuring their satisfaction with their visit to the podiatry office. Continuously update knowledge and skills in podiatry through attending conferences, and training programs as required.
What You Must Have:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant program or relevant certification. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Proficiency in performing basic medical procedures such as taking vital signs and administering medication. Knowledge of
OHSA, HIPAA
regulations. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Basic life support (BLS) certification preferred. Experience with X-ray procedures is a plus.
