Office Manager and Physician Summary :

This position is responsible for assisting the physician with patient examination and treatment. Also responsible for patient histories, routine lab procedures, collection and preparation of specimens for transport to lab. Responsible for patient phone calls and the physician responses, calling hospitals, nursing homes, home health facilities, and pharmacies to coordinate patient care. MINIMUM of 2 years office experience

REQUIRED.

Essential functions:  Receives incoming telephone calls. Responds to requests for basic information. Determines needs of calling patients, hospitals or consulting physicians and responds as directed by physician.  Stocks supplies and maintains general appearance and cleanliness of exam rooms. Sterilize instruments and maintain diagnostic equipment. Prepare, replenish and maintain inventory of supplies, medications, sample medications, patient literature, and children’s toys  Receives and greets patients. Reviews electronic chart for completeness and request any missing information. Obtains, verifies and updates information on new and established patients at every visit, including vital signs, medications, allergies, history of current illness or chief complaint.  Tracks outstanding patient lab/test information and either obtains test result or notifies office manager of non-compliance on a bi-monthly basis.  Monitors waiting patients and attempts to resolve delays. Assists LPN as needed on a daily basis.  Performs assigned nursing procedures for the comfort and well-being of patients. Assists physician with procedures, patient care and scheduling tests and procedures. Obtains pre-certification on procedures when required.  Triage calls for physician to include determining emergencies, identifying symptoms, using discretion for work-in appointments.  Maintains patient electronic chart files.  Maintains compliance regulations for HIPAA, OSHA and CLIA.  Receives vendors and sales representatives, verifies deliveries for practice, and assists unloading of samples. Prepares waste for pickup per regulations.  Sorts incoming lab/e-ray test results, consults, home health certifications, etc. for physician.  Maintains professional demeanor at all times with patients, caregivers, physician, and co-workers.

Other Activities:

 Assists the office manager or physician with a variety of other duties as assigned. The above specified tasks may not be the only duties assigned. Employees will be required to carry out any other job-related instructions requested by the physician or supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodations. Knowledge Requirements  High school diploma or GED equivalent.  Knowledge of nursing, anatomy, physiology and medical terminology of diseases and treatment. Medical assessment skills.  Ability to apply aseptic technique and sterilization.  Problem solving ability needed to sort out computer system problems.  Must have strong customer-service orientation.  Knowledge of CLIA and OSHA regulations.  Knowledge and application of medical chart requirements.  Ability to read charts to ensure lab tests and reports required are there for physican review.  Must have strong team orientation. Time and Benefit Information  Must have the ability to work Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM

  • 5:00 PM, Friday, 8:00
