The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accuracy in medical coding, and facilitating timely collections. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to navigate various billing software. The Medical Biller plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our practice while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The candidate will also assist with insurance eligibility and prior authorizations for procedures. This position will also assist at one of two reception areas for patient check-in. Responsibilities Review and verify patient information for accuracy before processing claims. Utilize coding systems such as ICD-9 and ICD-10 to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures. Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on any outstanding payments. Manage accounts receivable by tracking payments and resolving discrepancies in billing. Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing regulations and compliance requirements. Assist in medical collections as needed, ensuring adherence to ethical practices. Ensure accurate information in EMR for patient at time of check-in. Assist running eligibility/benefits and running prior authorizations for procedures. Experience Proven experience in medical billing or a related field is preferred. Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding and medical office operations is a plus. Proficient understanding of medical terminology, coding practices, and billing systems. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills for interacting with patients and insurance companies.
