Job Description Under direction, performs procedures using radionuclides by operating more advanced nuclear medicine instruments and equipment, and serves as a resource to appropriate staff in the performance of nuclear medicine procedures. May perform major duties of Assignment Levels I and II and, also performs the following: Duties & Responsibilities 1. Provides direction to appropriate technical staff and guides staff in the performance of nuclear medicine techniques; serves as a resource in various aspects of advanced nuclear medicine practice. 2. Recommends area assignment of personnel to coordinate activities within the department with other activities and services and represents the department in interdepartmental operations and meetings. 3. Conducts research and participates in special projects involving evaluation of equipment and delivery of nuclear medicine services. 4. Performs complex nuclear medicine examinations, including all procedures using radionuclides by operating more advanced nuclear medicine instruments and equipment (e.g., Positron Emission Tomography – Computed Tomography (PET-CT) and Single-Photon Emission Computerized Tomography (SPECT) to assist medical staff in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Minimum Qualifications 1. Valid license and current registration to practice as a Radiologic Technologist, specializing in Nuclear Medicine issued by the NYSDOH; and 2. Certification in Computed Tomography (CT) issued by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
