The successful candidate will provide holistic,high-quality care to complex critically ill patients requiringadvanced life support, bedside procedures and ultrasonography forcomplex decision making. These patients are admitted to a closedmedical surgical Intensive Care unit and under the care of amultidisciplinary care team with the advance practice provider as acore member of the team . Acute Care Nurse Practitioner orPhysician Assistant:
Under established guidelines and incollaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s),Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants perform routinephysical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, andpsychosocial plans to treat patients. In consultation with thephysician(s) and care team members, Nurse Practitioners andPhysician Assistants develop plans for further evaluation of healthneeds, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.
Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants provide appropriatetreatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practiceas designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of theirscope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.
