[Urgent Search] RN-Nurse Practitioner – Stroke Southaven Position Available In DeSoto, Mississippi

Job Description Summary Position to work in our inpatient StrokeNeurology team at BMH. In this role the APP will treat acuteischemic and hemorrhagic strokes. Will coordinate code strokes, inreal-time with the physicians, for all patients with acute strokesymptoms and determine eligibility for alteplase treatment andmechanical thrombectomy. Will work closely with the VascularNeurologists to treat problems in the immediate post-stroke phasefor patients in the ICU, step-down unit, and on the med/surgfloors. Will determine the mechanism of each stroke and initiateappropriate secondary prevention. Will provide patient, caregiverand staff training and education. Responsibilities

• Synthesizesdata and utilizes evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate thepatient plan of care, including ordering and interpretinglaboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results.
• Demonstrates proficiency in technical/procedural skills.
• Providesrelevant management, referrals, counseling, and education topatients, families, and caregivers related to current care andpreventive health measures.
• Facilitates/participates in qualityrelated initiatives and/or clinical research protocols throughplanned group processes, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings,to improve clinical an system practice performance.
• Collaboratewith a multidisciplinary group of clinicians in the care ofpatients.
• Optimize the use of EMR as it relates to patient care
• Serves as a resource to staff in area(s) of expertise.
• Collaborates with unit staff, Clinical Educators, Clinical NurseSpecialists, Staff Specialists and other healthcare professionalsto meet staff and patient educational needs.
• Identifiessystem-wide factors contributing to undesirable outcomes, such ascomplications, increased length of stay and over utilization ofservices.
• Facilitates patient movement through the system andefficient use of resources through interdepartmental collaboration
• Responsible for own professional growth and maintenance ofrequired credentials.
• Maintains and updates clinical knowledgeand skills based on current health care practice/research.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements, Preferences andExperience Education Minimum :

Either a Masters or Doctoral levelas a nurse practitioner.

Experience Preferred :

One year experienceas a nurse practitioner in area of neurology and/or Neuro criticalcare experience preferred

Licensure, Registration, CertificationMinimum :

Current certification

• nurse practitioner.

Eligible foror have certificate of fitness/prescription privileges.

RN, BLSCERTIFICATION WITHIN 14 DAYS OF HIRE, ACLS
