Nurse Practitioner – School Health Center- Position Available In Queens, New York

Nurse Practitioner – School Health Center- Jamaica Hospital Medical Center 8900 Van Wyck Expressway, Richmond Hill, NY 11418 Jamaica Hospital Medical Center has a full time, opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner for our School health center. The Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health care to students, ages 13-21 with emphasis on illness prevention and health education. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate, diagnose and treat student-patients and staff while maintaining the highest quality standards of care.

Responsibilities:

Obtain complete history of patient, recording elements of past history, family history, review of health habits, environmental, and occupational data Conduct physical examination for the diagnosis and treatment of acute or chronic medical and reproductive health problems Order and schedule tests, including laboratory and special exams in consultation Follows-up on abnormal laboratory test results Maintains the accuracy and completeness of all patient records. Complete progress and procedure notes, and discharge summaries Provides follow-up and health maintenance care including appropriate adjustments of medication in accordance with established protocols for NPs Provides additional clinical support programmatically as needed

Qualifications:

Must be a NYS Licensed Nurse Practitioner ( Family Nurse Practitioner or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner) by the state of New York Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively interact with patients, family, physicians and hospital staff in fulfilling duties and responsibilities of position 1 year experience of adolescents experience preferred School setting – 1 year preferred Bilingual Spanish Speaking preferred.
