NURSING SUPPORT

Per Employment AgreementGeneral ResponsibilityThe Nursing Support Assistant plays a key role in advancing student success and clinical readiness within the nursing program at RINI. This position provides essential hands-on support to the nursing department by assisting with skills labs, clinical preparation, health-related instruction, and student guidance. Working under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the assistant also helps promote a safe, professional, and supportive learning environment aligned with the

Scholarship, Character, Compassion, and Empathy.

This role blends instructional, clinical, and operational support to help prepare students for certification, internship, and professional pathways in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities1. Clinical & Academic SupportAssist CNA instructors and nursing faculty with classroom and lab setup, skills demonstrations, and debriefs.

Support students in mastering clinical competencies through one-on-one or small group coaching.

Monitor student performance and assist in documenting skill checklists and clinical readiness.

Help maintain nursing lab cleanliness, inventory, and equipment organization.

Ensure students follow safety protocols and infection control procedures.2. Student Supervision & Health SupportSupervise students during skills labs, clinical rotations, CPR certification, and off-site visits.

Reinforce professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate behavior in clinical environments.

Support the school nurse in monitoring student health-related concerns and providing first aid if trained.

Assist with health screenings, health records organization, and basic student needs as directed.

Help coordinate CPR, immunization clinics, and health-related programming for CNA students.3. Professionalism & Culture BuildingServe as a role model of professionalism and empathy in the school and clinical settings.

Help build student confidence and reinforce expectations aligned with state certification standards.

Support communication among nursing staff, students, and families regarding clinical expectations and student progress.

Participate in clinical onboarding, family engagement events, CNA pinning, and graduation.4. School Support & OperationsAssist in tracking clinical attendance, certifications (CPR, BCI, immunizations), and compliance documentation.

Coordinate with partner clinical sites and transportation vendors for student logistics.

Participate in PD, planning sessions, and school-wide events as assigned.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing or School Leadership Team.

QualificationsRequired:

Valid CNA or LPN license in Rhode IslandExperience working in a healthcare or educational setting, preferably with adolescents or young adultsBCI clearance and fingerprinting requiredStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitaskAbility to model and reinforce professional standards of conduct and dressTraining or experience with CPR, infection control, or health education is a plusComfort using email, Google Workspace, or student management systemsBilingual abilities preferred
