UNIT / SALARY

This is a full-time, in-person, salaried position on campus in Wells, Maine . The salary for this position is commensurate with the Agreement between the MCCS Trustees and the MEA Faculty Unit.

Full benefits package available including:

Retirement choice of Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS) or Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association College Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA-CREF) – in lieu of Social Security. Full employee health/dental insurance and approximately 60% of the cost for dependent coverage. Life insurance paid by the MCCS. Personal 2 days/year. Sick 9 days/academic year. SUMMARY York County Community College (YCCC), a proud institution with a 30-year legacy of transforming lives and communities throughout York County, Maine, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Faculty member to join our team full-time. Reporting to the Dean of Education, this position is pivotal to the continued growth and excellence of YCCC’s nursing education programs. The Nurse Faculty member will play a key role in delivering high-quality nursing education, developing curriculum, and fostering clinical partnerships that ensure students are well-prepared to meet the demands of today’s healthcare environment. This role involves teaching and supervising students in didactic, lab, and clinical settings, with a strong emphasis on student engagement, evidence-based practice, and academic excellence. The ideal candidate will be student-focused, clinically experienced, and passionate about nursing education. They must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to effectively teach and mentor a diverse student population. Faculty at YCCC are expected to implement effective teaching strategies, assess student learning outcomes, and provide academic advising and support. New faculty transitioning from clinical practice to academia will receive mentorship and professional development to support their transition into the classroom.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.

Instructional Responsibilities Teach and supervise students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings. Deliver engaging, evidence-based instruction that supports diverse learning styles. Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback. Maintain scheduled availability to support student learning and success. Schedule may include day, evening, weekend, and online classes. 2. Curriculum Development Participate in the development, evaluation, and revision of nursing curriculum and academic policies. Collaborate with faculty and clinical partners to ensure the curriculum reflects current nursing standards and best practices. Contribute to the development and management of nursing courses. 3. Accreditation and Assessment Engage in program-level and institutional accreditation activities, including involvement with ACEN accreditation processes. Participate in institutional assessment and continuous improvement initiatives. 4. Student Engagement and Advising Provide academic advising and career guidance to nursing students. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student achievement and retention. 5. Professional Development Stay current with developments in nursing practice and education through ongoing professional development. Participate in faculty development opportunities and contribute to a culture of continuous learning. 6. Administrative and Institutional Service Assist in the development and assessment of program goals and student learning outcomes. Participate in department and college-wide meetings, committees, and initiatives.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THE POSITION MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Nursing. Active, unencumbered RN License in the State of Maine or Compact State. Current knowledge of nursing practice and/or health care. Two years of recent clinical experience. Possess a current driver’s license. Meet clinical facility immunization requirements.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of one year of teaching experience, preferably at the college level Demonstrated experience in mental health and/or maternity nursing Simulation experience

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Expertise in

Nursing Practice:

Demonstrated knowledge and clinical expertise in current nursing specialty areas, with the ability to effectively teach and mentor students in both classroom and clinical settings.

Simulation and Technology Integration:

Experience utilizing simulation-based learning and computer-assisted instruction to enhance student engagement and clinical decision-making skills.

Curriculum and Instructional Design:

Familiarity with curriculum development aligned with current nursing standards, accreditation requirements, and best practices in nursing education.

Organizational Skills:

Strong ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in a dynamic academic environment.

Technological Proficiency:

Excellent knowledge of computer technology, including the ability to access and analyze data, maintain academic records, generate reports, and communicate effectively with students and colleagues.

Communication and Presentation:

Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and effectively to a diverse student population.

Collaborative Mindset:

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, clinical partners, and community stakeholders to support student learning and program development. Commitment to
