JOB DESCRIPTION AND COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT
Assists the Clinical Director in organization and daily function of the operating room in accordance with established Federal, State and accreditation standards and Center policies and procedures. Assists Clinical Director in overseeing patient care activities in the operating room and maintains a high standard of safety for the patient and other staff members. Responsible for maintenance of equipment, adequate supply inventory, OR orientation, and complete and accurate medical records.
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Act as a clinical resource for perioperative personnel using current literature and guidelines, organizational policies and procedures, and regulatory and accreditation standards. Implementation of workflows, processes and resources that will provide consistent and positive surgical experiences for patients and staff. Assist perioperative personnel in the evaluation of current practice through quality and performance improvement activities. Respond to surgical emergencies and complications. Oversight of quality and patient safety at all times in accordance with facility policies and procedures. Manage the surgical area operationally. Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Assist Clinical Director with staff feedback and performance measures. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility:
Current State R.N. license and BCLS required, ACLS/PALS preferred. Prefer three (3) years’ experience as an operating room nurse, preferably in an ASC including charge nurse experience preferred.

Knowledge:
Working knowledge and experience in hospital operating room or ambulatory surgery center nursing care. Ability to adhere to work schedule and manage time appropriately. Ability to effectively manage OR activities and personnel. Knowledge of current nursing matters relating to healthcare management including QAPI. Ability to utilize resources in an organized and effective manner. Ability to circulate all types of cases preferred.
