Duties/Responsibilities:
Provides clinical direction to nursing staff in the delivery of patient care. Ensures nursing staff maintains an established level of competency. Assists in the clinical supervision of staff and evaluation of staff performance. Develops and implements practice guidelines, participates as an active member of the clinical team, maintains standards of care and practice through staff development, clinical improvement activities, and patient/staff education. Works closely with members of the healthcare team in the advancement of evidence-based practice of nursing at LRMC. Creates and revises nursing policies, protocols and procedures using evidence-based information to achieve outcomes for indicators that are nursing Collaborates to resolve issues related to patient care, communications, policies and resources. Leads clinical practice and quality improvement initiatives for the unit. Attends/participates in department meetings and holds/participates in unit huddles to discuss matters such as continuing education, process improvements and customer service. Participates in the hiring, interviewing and onboarding of new staff. Creates a nursing environment that stimulates continuous self-learning, reflective practice, feeling of ownership, and demonstration of responsibility and Assists with staff scheduling and timekeeping in conjunction with the Director and House Supervisor to ensure adequate patient care. Collaborates with members of the healthcare team, Nursing Management staff, Staff Development, and Case Management on content and design of nursing orientation, competency, and other clinical education Mentors nurses to acquire new skills, and effectively incorporate evidence into practice. Provides both formal and informal education for nursing staff based on identified individual or group learning Willing to serve on Councils. Works flexible hours in order to supervise, evaluate, and provide instruction to nursing staff on all shifts
Education and Experience:
Must have a current and unrestricted RN license to practice nursing in Louisiana Must have BLS, ACLS, and PALS Minimum of four years staff nurse experience and one year in a specialized area preferred Education Required Bachelors of Nursing or better in Nursing Licenses & Certifications Required
