Job Description :

The Crisis Response Advocate is responsible for serving victims of sexual assault and their families through hotline calls and emergency room accompaniments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct Service/ Case Management Provide crisis intervention services by answering

TCS’ 24/7

crisis hotline and responding to sexual assault victims in MUSC’s ER. The incumbent will serve as a primary staff advocate providing ER accompaniment and crisis intervention through the hotline as part of a two person CRA Team. Provide supportive services to survivors of sexual violence Assist in referring clients for therapy and other services. Maintain client information and contacts in accordance with agency policy and funding requirements. The advocate will have primary responsibility for ensuring client information is properly recorded and maintained following hotline calls and ER accompaniment. Work collaboratively with Executive Director and other agency staff to provide highest quality services to clients.

Time Commitment:
  • Advocates will work a minimum of 24 hours per week but will not exceed 29 hours. Advocate will work four weekend shifts from 6pm-12am; 12a – 6a; 6a-12p; and 12p-6a. Two shifts per month must be on Fridays from 6p – 12a. Advocate will also be expected to attend 1 hour team and supervision meetings each week. Education and Community Awareness
  • Build positive relationships with representatives of partner agencies Promote agency services and a positive image of the agency to the community.
  • Connect and share information about TCS’ services with community partners to increase awareness and client referrals Administrative Participate as a member of the TCS Team, participate in weekly Advocate and/or Hotline scheduling and supervision meetings.

Complete New Volunteer Training, attend and participate in the facilitation of volunteer advocate training Enter Intake Form and its data into Collaborate CRM accurately and within 24 hours of client contact Maintain Victim Service Provider (VSP) credentials by completing annual training requirements. Enhance professional growth and development through activities such as professional affiliations, conferences, workshops, etc.

  • Attend department staff meetings as necessary
  • Implement ideas for improvement Perform other duties as assigned and/ or requested.

Job Requirements :
Minimum Education :
High School Diploma Minimum Experience :

1 year preferred Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have reliable transportation and phone service. Must have the ability to get to MUSC’s Emergency Room within 30 minutes of receiving a call to accompany a survivor

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrates knowledge of sexual assault
  • Organizational skills and ability to set priorities regarding documentation
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with survivors
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and high ethical standards
  • Skilled in using computers including the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced skills in working effectively and sensitively with people in crisis
