Position Summary This is a pull time Per Diem Pharmacy Technician position and will require some weekend work. Key Responsibilities + Promptly greets patients and families in person and by telephone with a friendly and helpful attitude. + Answers medication-related inquiries, requests authorization for refills, and provides guidance on prescription pick-up. + Responds efficiently to inquiries by health care providers with pharmacy question and refer inquiries to the pharmacist as needed. + Manages the administrative responsibilities for faxing, filing, and/or documenting in medical record for non-electronic prescriptions, + MassPAT PMP requirements, 340B eligibility, or other pertinent procedures. + Determines and updates patient’s insurance information, calls insurance companies to verify coverage, processes claims through the patient’s insurance. + Collaborates with the pharmacist and prescribers to formulate a solution, such as an alternative medicine or co-pay discount program. + Compounds simple or complex non-sterile medications in accordance with established policies, procedures and professional standards. + Maintains pharmacy inventory by monitoring medication and supplies stock levels, anticipating needed medications and supplies, and removing outdated/expired drugs. + Places and expedites orders, receives orders, rotates medications, restocks supplies + Ensures the proper storage of all medications in accordance with policies and procedures. + Performs routine quality control, cleaning and equipment maintenance tasks according to established procedures and schedules. + Prepares and maintains related logs and records.
Requirements:
+ High School Diploma, Associates preferred + MA licensed Pharmacy Technician + National Certification is required + Minimum of 1 year experience in prior authorization management in a healthcare setting + Specialty/Retail Pharmacy Technicians must pass a drug test as part of their pre-employment screening with Occ Health Boston Children’s Hospital offers competitive compensation and unmatched benefits
