Summary of Job Duties:

UAMS Family Medical Center in Ft. Smith, AR is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Phlebotomist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of medical terminology, excellent communication and customer service skills, and a strong attention to detail. Experience working in a healthcare setting is preferred. As a PRN staff member, you will have the opportunity to work a flexible schedule, providing essential healthcare services to the community.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

High School, GED, or formal educational equivalent required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Proficient in following proper specimen collection procedures. Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate specimen labeling and documentation Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

One (1) year of experience working in a clinical laboratory or as a medical assistant and CPR, CAN, PBT, MLA, or CPT Certification. National Phlebotomy Certification (ex. ASCP, AMT, etc)

Key Responsibilities:

Greet patients and verify their identity. Collect blood samples by performing venipunctures and finger sticks. Label all samples according to outlined procedures and policies. Transport and package samples in accordance with policies. Follow all health and safety guidelines. Recognizes incorrect lab orders and corrects them. Follows correct centrifugation, collection, storage, and transport guidelines set forth in the test directory. Adheres to lab policies, HIPAA, and Universal Precautions. May perform POC testing when applicable
