As a Clinical Trial Phlebotomist, you will play a crucial role in the successful execution of clinical trials by ensuring accurate and efficient collection of blood specimens from study participants. Your responsibilities will include adhering to protocol requirements, maintaining specimen integrity, and providing exceptional patient care throughout the phlebotomy process.

Key Responsibilities:

Phlebotomy:

Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures on study participants according to established protocols and safety guidelines. Ensure proper identification of patients and specimen labeling to maintain integrity and traceability. 2.

Protocol Adherence:

Familiarize yourself with study protocols and procedures, including sample collection schedules, handling instructions, and documentation requirements. Strictly adhere to protocol guidelines to ensure compliance and data accuracy. 3.

Specimen Handling:

Collect, process, and prepare blood specimens for analysis, ensuring timely delivery to designated laboratories or storage facilities. Maintain proper handling techniques to prevent contamination or degradation of samples. 4.

Documentation:

Accurately document all phlebotomy procedures, specimen collections, and relevant participant information in study records or electronic databases. Maintain comprehensive and organized documentation to facilitate data tracking and analysis. 5.

Patient Interaction:

Interact with study participants in a courteous, professional, and empathetic manner. Provide clear instructions before, during, and after phlebotomy procedures to alleviate any concerns and ensure patient comfort and cooperation. 6.

Quality Control:

Monitor and maintain the quality of specimen collection and handling processes to uphold standards of accuracy and reliability. Participate in quality assurance activities, such as proficiency testing and equipment maintenance, to ensure optimal performance. 7.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including clinical research coordinators, nurses, and investigators, to coordinate sample collection activities and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the course of the trial. 8.

Compliance:

Adhere to regulatory requirements, including Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and institutional policies governing human subjects research. Ensure compliance with safety standards and infection control protocols.

Qualifications:
  • Certification:

    Possess a valid phlebotomy certification from an accredited program or institution.

  • Experience:

    Demonstrated experience in phlebotomy, preferably in a clinical trial or research setting.

  • Knowledge:

    Familiarity with clinical trial protocols, specimen collection procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Skills:

    Proficient venipuncture and specimen handling skills, attention to detail, strong organizational and documentation abilities, effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ethics:
