A Brief Overview The Physical Therapist isresponsible for planning and providing physical therapy treatmentfor patients in accordance with professional and MethodistHealthcare standards of treatment. Models appropriate behavior asexemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. What you will doPerforms initial patient assessment. Implements patient treatmentsbased on assessment and written plan. Provides ongoing patientassessment through observation of patient and review of records.
Identifies patient specific physical therapy rehabilitationlearning needs and provides appropriate education. Demonstratesinitiative in identifying opportunities for self-development andenhancement of professional competency. Education/Formal TrainingRequirements Bachelor’s Degree Physical Therapy Work ExperienceRequirements No prior work experience Licenses and CertificationsRequirements Physical Therapist – Tennessee – Tennessee Board ofPhysical Therapy Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability tounderstand and prepare moderately complex written materials, suchas patient records. Ability to communicate verbally withAssociates, physicians and other outside professionals. Ability towork without close supervision and to exercise independentjudgment. Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects andmaintain control of work flow. Supervision Provided by thisPosition There are no supervisory responsibilities assigned to thisposition. May provide guidance and direction to therapy assistants.
Physical Demands The physical activities of this position mayinclude climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching,grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have goodbalance and coordination. The physical requirements of thisposition are: medium work – exerting up to 50 lbs. of forceoccasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently. TheAssociate is required to have close visual acuity including color,depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, suchas assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures;transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact. Exposure topatient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonousmaterials. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
