In collaborationwith staff radiologists, this job possesses advanced certificationin Mammography and assesses patients and safely performs advancedbreast imaging procedures in accordance with prescribed radiationsafety procedures and protocols. Serves as a clinical mentor forjunior staff and students. Education Required
- Completion of anapproved Radiologic Technology program. Work Experience Preferred
- Mammography experience. Certifications Required
- Registered by theAmerican Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) OR AmericanRegistry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registry eligible,registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists(ARRT) within 90 days of employment, and temporary state licenserequired.
Current unrestricted license in the state of practice.
Advanced certification in mammography within 1 year ofhire/transfer. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification fromthe American Heart Association. Knowledge Skills and Abilities(KSAs)
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-basedapplications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skillsand ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel throughout andbetween facilities. Job Duties
- Verifies physician order andprocedure to ensure accuracy.
- Uses radiology information systemsto facilitate care.
- Explains procedure to patient to ensureunderstanding.
- Independently operates equipment to completeimaging procedure according to protocol.
- Reviews patient imagesprior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic qualitystandards.
- Completes timely quality control procedures inaccordance with regulatory standards and performingnotification/remediation as warranted.
- Assists in thefacilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staffschedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
- Adapts behavior to thespecific patient population, including but not limited to respectfor privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adaptingexplanation of services or procedures to be performed, requestingpermissions and communication style.
- Performs other relatedduties as required.
