POSITION SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse (RN) Circulator is responsible for coordinating all nursing care, patient safety needs, and the needs of the surgical team in the Operating Room (OR) during an invasive or operative procedure. This RN is responsible for established surgical standards of nursing practice. The circulator is in charge of managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment in the OR. They should promote teamwork with physicians and other healthcare givers.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Experience and Education:

Minimum:

Graduate from an Accredited School of Nursing and in good standing with the Missouri Board of Nursing.

EXPERIENCE

Six (6) to twelve (12) months experience in surgical nursing, including experience in the operating room in which skill has been demonstrated. BSN or

MSN LICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS

Minimum:

Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri Basic Life Support (BLS) ,Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Preferred:

Association of Operating Room Nurse Certification (AORN)

Maintains compliance with Surgical Services clinical competencies for circulating, scrub nurse. Same Day Surgery nurse, post anesthesia recovery nurse, and Central Sterile duties.
