RequiredQualifications:

One year of recent experience as an Operating RoomRN Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations CurrentBLS certification (AHA/ARC)

Preferred Qualifications:

ACLS(AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications OR NursingCertification (CNOR) Other certifications and licenses may berequired for this position

Summary:

The Operating Room RegisteredNurse provides comprehensive patient care throughout theperioperative process, ensuring the safety and comfort of patientsduring surgical procedures. This role involves preparing theoperating room, managing surgical equipment, and collaborating withthe surgical team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

The OR RN collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and adheres tothe highest standards of patient safety, infection control, andprofessional ethics in a dynamic surgical environment.

EssentialWork Functions:

Prepare the operating room by ensuring all requiredinstruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready andfunctional for each surgical procedure Assists in positioning andpreparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuringcomfort and safety according to procedural requirements Maintains asterile field throughout surgical procedures and adhering toinfection control protocols and sterile technique Anticipates theneeds of the surgical team providing instruments, supplies, andsupport promptly to maintain efficient workflow Monitors patient’scondition during surgery, documenting significant changes andnotifying the surgeon of any significant changes Handles surgicalinstruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use, sterilization,and disposal according to facility protocols Manage specimencollection, labeling, and transport according to facilityprotocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results Documents allaspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately andthoroughly Participate in patient handoff communication during pre-and post-operative phases ensuring continuity of care Assist incleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adheringto infection control and turnover protocols Collaborate with thesurgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies,procedures, and standards Follow hospital safety rules andprocedures, including proper use of PPE and infection preventionmeasures Perform other duties as assigned within the scope ofpractice

Required Essential Skills:

Critical thinking, serviceexcellence and good interpersonal communication skills The abilityto read, write, & communicate in the English language is requiredAbility to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbalinstructions, and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities
