Department Profile:
ED extension unit, for pediatric patients awaiting placement.
Current capacity of 6 beds. Patients will not have medical needs,but many may have behavioral health needs. Prior pediatric or psychexperience is highly desired. Unit designed to facilitate groupinteraction between patients.•
Work Schedule:

3, 12 hourshifts. Rotating, 7a-7:30p and 7p-7:30a What you will do:
As a
- Clinical Nurse II
- in Duke University HealthSystem, you will plan and provide professional nursing care forpatients in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of careand established policies and procedures.
Provide nursing servicesto patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN asdefined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing careutilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance withphysician orders and established policies and procedures. Useprofessional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of carebased on assessment of the patient’s baseline needs and response tocare. Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensedand unlicensed care providers. Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of nursing careand act as team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients oran entire unit as assigned. Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain theenvironment of care including equipment and materialresources. Participate in own professional development by maintainingrequired competencies, identifying learning needs and seekingappropriate assistance or educational offerings. Act as preceptor and support the development of other staff andformal learners. Participate in the identification of clinical or operationalperformance improvement opportunities and in performanceimprovement activities. Perform other related duties incidental to the work describedherein.

- What you will need: Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (orhigher) OR Associate’s Degree in Nursing OR Nursing Diplomaprogram. Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.
- All registered nurses without a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing(or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSNprogram within two years of their start date and to complete theprogram within five years of their start date.

Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursingas a registered professional nurse OR current compact RN licensureto practice in the state of North Carolina required. BLS Certification required
