Job Summary:
Performs the primaryfunctions of a registered nurse in assessing, diagnosing, planning,implementing and evaluating the care of all assigned patients.
JobResponsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESSupports the care of the patient and assesses and addresses theneeds of the patient/family. Works collaboratively with otherinterprofessional team members in resolving patient/familyproblems, concerns and issues. Collaborates with other departmentsas needed to establish the patient/family treatment plan.
Individualizes, implements, evaluates or updates the plan of careand patient educational needs regarding vascular access. Possessesthe ability to complete intravenous insertion and assessment toinclude peripheral and central line access. Utilizes equipment suchas point of care ultrasound equipment and intravenous infusionpumps as appropriate. Demonstrates proper interpretation ofdepartment specific policies and related laboratory results tosafely manage specific patient needs. Implements, monitors andrecords patient care and communicates patient condition asappropriate. Takes appropriate actions to unanticipated changes inpatient condition. Utilizes the Electronic Health Record (EHR) toaccess treatment and therapy plans. Applies the existing body ofevidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care tonursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based onpatient’s age-specific needs and clinical needs as described in thedepartment’s scope of service. Works in a constant state ofalertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Graduate of accredited school of nursing or educationequivalency for licensing

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Constant use of speech to share informationthrough oral communication. Constant standing and walking. Frequentlifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry. Frequentuse of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches orless) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguishcolors. Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors. Frequentuse of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish bodysounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing25-50 lbs. Occasional lifting/moving of patients. Occasionalbending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping andrepetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional driving.
Rare crawling and running.
