This position is responsible for managing patient referrals, verifying insurance coverage, and maintaining accurate medical records. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding, as well as experience in a medical office setting. Duties Process and manage patient referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers. Verify insurance coverage and benefits for referrals to ensure compliance with managed care policies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Utilize medical coding knowledge, including ICD-9 and ICD-10, to ensure proper documentation of patient diagnoses and procedures. Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to facilitate the referral process. Assist in resolving any issues related to referrals or insurance verification. Stay informed about changes in medical coding, insurance policies, and managed care practices. Assist with answering phones and making appointments when necessary Skills Proficient in medical coding practices, including ICD-9 and ICD-10. Strong understanding of medical terminology and its application in a clinical setting. Experience with insurance verification processes and managed care systems. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and compliance. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate medical records.
