Full Job Description Overview Primary Purpose :
Ensures data entered in the Trauma Registry Database contains detailed, reliable, and readily accessible information needed to support Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center, Level One ACS verified Adult Trauma Center with trauma data collection and reporting. Data that is collected must detail the injury event, demographics, pre-hospital information, AIS (Abbreviated Injury Scale), ICD-10-CM injury diagnosis coding, ICD-10-PCS procedure coding, patient care, outcomes, comorbidities, hospital events, and opportunities for improvement for care of the injured patients.
Major Responsibilities:
Trauma data collection and subject matter expert to support research and quality initiatives for Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center Trauma Program. Analyze and abstract patient injury diagnoses and treatment information from multiple sources and accurately assign injury diagnoses and procedure codes in accordance with current AIS and ICD-10 guidelines. Appropriately apply the current National Trauma Data Standard (NTDS), Georgia DPH and facility data definitions and guidelines. Identify hospital events, complications, and comorbidities in accordance with National Trauma Data Standard (NTDS) definitions. Identification of facility’s trauma population in accordance with NTDS, Georgia, and facility registry inclusion criteria. Consistently meet agreed upon goals for record completion while maintaining an accuracy rate greater than 95%. Ensure and maintain reliability and confidentiality of trauma patient data. Be familiar with the Registry standards requirements from the current version of the American College of Surgeons, Optimal Resource for Care of the Injured Patient. Education| License|
Work Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Certification as a Certified Abbreviated Injury Scaling Specialist (CAISS) required. Two years trauma registry experience at ACS verified trauma center.
Preferred Job Requirements:
Certificate of attendance at ATS Trauma Registry course strongly preferred. Certificate of attendance at recent Trauma Specific ICD-10 course strongly preferred. Certificate of completion at recent AAAM Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) 2015 course strongly preferred. Certification as a Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR) preferred. RHIT, RHIA, CPC, CCS, or CCA preferred. #indeed456
