POSITION SUMMARY
To be fully engaged in providing no harm/quality, customer experience, and stewardship. The Respiratory Student Equipment Tech works under the supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Department leadership team and with guidance from Licensed Respiratory Therapists. The Respiratory Student Equipment Tech will prepare, transport, set up and check respiratory care equipment in both routine and emergency situations and distribute medical gas cylinders when necessary. The Respiratory Student Equipment Tech will display ICARE values in accordance with the Health First mission and vision.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES 1.
Provides non-direct patient care support services for respiratory therapy department 2. Handles and distributes medical gas cylinders as appropriate 3. Makes rounds to assigned areas to deliver, check, change and set up equipment 4. Assists supply chain in the management of stock and inventory of respiratory supplies 5. Maintains respiratory supply areas to optimal par levels while ensuring cleanliness 6. Coordinates with unit leaders to maintain clean and organized stock/supply rooms 7. Handles change out of expired supplies 8. Floats to any unit to offer assistance within scope Work Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Active student enrollment in a Respiratory Therapy training program
Work Experience:
Previous experience in hospital setting preferred
Certification:
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
o Must be able to float to all hospital locations o Must be able to participate in prolonged CPR procedures
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
– Moderate Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently. May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance. May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or over head. May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift. May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise. May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines. Communicating with others to exchange information.
