RequiredQualifications:
- One year of recent experience as a RegisteredRespiratory Therapist
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)credential from the NBRC
- Valid respiratory therapy license incompliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification(AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications:
- ACLS or PALS Certification(AHA/ARC)
- Other certifications and licenses may be required forthis position
Summary:
A Registered Respiratory Therapist providesadvanced respiratory care to patients with complex pulmonarydisorders and critical illnesses. They independently assess, treat,and manage patients with a wide range of respiratory conditions,including those in intensive care units and emergency situations.
RRTs work collaboratively with physicians and healthcare teams todeliver life-saving therapies and patient-centered care.
EssentialWork Functions:
- Collaborate with physicians to develop patienttreatment plans
- Examine and interview patients with breathingand/or cardiopulmonary disorders
- Perform diagnostic tests, suchas measuring lung capacity or collecting blood/sputum samples
- Treat patients through various methods including chestphysiotherapy and aerosol medications
- Set up and monitorequipment to ensure the patient is receiving the correct amount ofoxygen at the correct rate
- Observe and record patient status andprogress
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team toensure appropriate patient care
- Educate patients and/or familymembers on how to properly take medication and use equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of RRT practice
Required Essential Skills:
- Critical thinking, service excellenceand good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read,write, & communicate in the English language is required
- Abilityto read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbalinstructions, and proficiency in PC skills
- Physical Abilities
- Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment(50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending
- Interpersonal Skills
- Towork effectively with a variety of personnel (professional andancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- Technical/Motor Skills
- Ability to grasp, fine manipulation,pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting withprocedures and/or using department equipment.
- Mental Requirements
- Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the generalpublic, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must beable to work under close supervision occasionally as well asworking without assistance from other personnel. Must be able tocontend with irregular activity schedules occasionally andcontinuous concentration to detail
