Specialized Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupion in the organizion. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumention, and sterile technique, including sterilizer operions, packing, storage, and infection control protocols. The candide must demonstre the ability to anticipe the needs of the surgical team, respond quickly and accurely during procedures, and recognize and manage emergency conditions. Proficiency in handling surgical specimens, including proper collection, labeling, and preservion for diagnostic purposes, is required. The ability to prepare and manage implantable devices such as prosthetic joints, pacemakers, and vascular grafts is also necessary. Experience in reprocessing reusable medical equipment, ensuring compliance with manufacturer guidelines, and following Standard Opering Procedures (SOPs) is expected. The applicant must exhibit strong knowledge of pient positioning, assist anesthesia providers as needed, and maintain a working understanding of medical terminology and pharmacology relevant to the sterile field. Effective communicion skills are required to coordine with multidisciplinary teams, provide instruction when needed, and ensure the highest level of pient care..

To qualify based on educion for this grade level you must have Successfully completed one year of gradue educion (18 semester hours) or an internship in course mter th must include courses directly reled to the work of the Surgical Technician position such as anomy and physiology, surgical technology, aseptic techniques, etc. This educion must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. OR Applicants may also combine educion and experience to qualify the GS-07 level. Must have an equivalent combinion of reled gradue level educion and specialized experience to meet the total experience requirement. To calcule, first identify the percentage of required educion you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours th you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal least 100 percent to qualify the GS-07.
