Job Description
DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
This role performs a wide variety of technical procedures, requiring independent judgment and ingenuity. Requires initiative to apply appropriate skills to facilitate a diagnosis. May be assigned independent responsibilities by Lead Technologist, Administrative Director, or Operations Manager. Proper care of the clients in accordance with the departmental and hospital policies and procedures is required. May be responsible for assigned areas to assume responsibilities of supervision or instruction to department personnel as determined by Operations Manager or Lead Technologist. Practices infection control and body substance isolation in clinical practice in compliance with departmental and hospital policies and OSHA standards. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Demonstrates proper operation of PACS, HIS and RIS computer systems. Demonstrates ability to operate and trouble shoot CR, DR and PACs applications. Attends annual mandatory education to include blood borne pathogens, infection control, and body substance isolation.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
(Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
Experience:
Three years of experience as Ultrasonographer preferred.
Education and Training:
Must have completed approved Diagnostic Sonography Technology Program. Additional registration and state license as a diagnostic technologist preferred
License, Certification & Registration:
ARRT(S)/ARDMS – Registered Sonographer through ARRT or
ARDMS CPR – CPR
is required.
Other Requirements:
Must be proficient in Abdominal, Pelvic, and Obstetrical , dvt studies of arms and legs and obtaining images using portable equipment. Must be familiar with sterile technique and set up of sterile trays. Ability to function independently and proficiently. Must be able to move and lift patients, equipment, and supplies on a regular basis. Ability to function in a high stress, work intensive environment.
