Staff Veterinarian
Purpose & Scope:
This position will have direct veterinary responsibility for multiple Pilgrim’s complexes, working with live management in all areas (pullets/breeders, hatchery, broiler grow out, and plant), satisfying regulatory health requirements, ensuring implementation and compliance with company programs, and contributing to the Pilgrim’s Veterinary Services team.
Principle Responsibilities:
Direct contact for bird health, animal welfare, and biosecurity in multiple Pilgrim’s complexes
Responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance related to VFDs, Rx, NPIP and USDA health/export certificates
Training and education of live team personnel
Contribution to Pilgrim’s vet team efforts on group projects, trials, etc.
Travel:
Routine travel required to assigned complexes
Additional travel to live meetings, continuing education conferences, etc.
Required Qualifications:
DVM or equivalent
Post doctorate training program in poultry medicine preferred
ACPV diplomate preferred
Veterinary license and federal accreditation with ability to be licensed in multiple states preferred
Excellent communication skills
Microsoft Office suite competency
