Banquet Captain IH Trumbull

Hawley Lane, Trumbull, CT 06611 The Trumbull Marriott Shelton seeks a Banquet Captain who will oversee and coordinate the smooth execution of banquet events such as weddings, conferences, and parties. The captain’s primary goal is to ensure exceptional guest experiences by managing staff, food and beverage service, and overall event operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Supervising Staff:

Leading, training, and scheduling banquet staff, including servers, bartenders, and support personnel.

Event Coordination:

Overseeing all aspects of the event, from setup to breakdown, including coordinating with event planners, kitchen staff, and other departments.

Customer Service:

Ensuring guest satisfaction by addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and fulfilling additional requests.

Food and Beverage Service:

Monitoring the quality and presentation of food and beverages and ensuring efficient service delivery.

Maintaining Standards:

Ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations and maintaining cleanliness and organization of event spaces.

Event Setup and Breakdown:

Supervising the setup and tear-down of tables, chairs, decorations, and other necessary equipment.

Managing Event Timeline:

Keeping the event on schedule ensures all activities occur promptly. This position will also assist with Restaurant Supervisor shifts at least twice weekly.

Qualifications and Skills:
Experience:

Three (3) years of experience in the hospitality industry, particularly in banquet-related roles.

Leadership:

Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage a team.

Communication:

Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Customer Service:

Outstanding customer service orientation and the ability to handle guest inquiries and complaints.

Problem-Solving:

Efficient problem-solving skills and remaining calm under pressure.

Organizational Skills:

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks and ensure smooth event execution.

Physical Fitness:

The ability to stand for long periods and lift and carry heavy items (tables, chairs, trays).

Flexibility:

Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Our banquet captain will play a vital role in creating memorable events and ensuring positive experiences for guests.
