Position Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced and personable Personal Chef to join a dynamic and collaborative private household team. This is a unique opportunity for a culinary professional who is as comfortable preparing health-conscious meals as they are managing kitchen operations across multiple properties. The ideal candidate is highly organized, brings a proactive, can-do attitude, and enjoys working as part of a team. A calm, easygoing demeanor is essential, along with the flexibility to travel occasionally to support international properties. A genuine enjoyment of new environments and collaboration with local staff is key. This role also includes kitchen management, staff mentoriship, food shopping, and event support. 1.
Menu Planning and Meal Preparation:
- Collaborate with the Principal to design diverse and balanced menus.
- Prepare high-quality, flavorful daily meals and provide meal service at the table.
- Accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences while maintaining excellent taste.
- Research and propose new recipes and innovative cooking techniques.
- Develop and test health-conscious recipes aligned with the family’s dietary goals.
- Prepare meals for 7 days a week and maintain a stock of frozen meals to ensure the supporting staff can serve the Principals on chef’s days off 2.
Travel & Multi-Property Culinary Coordination Travel to international properties a few weeks per year to support on-site staff. Train and mentor local cooking teams, sharing recipes and culinary techniques. Align menus across properties and coordinate feedback from the Principal on preferred dishes. Maintain a comprehensive recipe database, including digital files and physical cookbooks. Standardize recipes, processes, and technology use across all kitchens. 3. Kitchen & Inventory Management Keep all kitchen areas impeccably clean and well-organized. Conduct weekly deep cleans of all kitchen and prep areas. Manage grocery shopping, food inventory, and proper storage. Ensure top-tier food safety and sanitation practices at all times. 4. Event Support & Small Gatherings Plan, cook, and serve meals for small-scale events, family gatherings, and dinner parties. Consider every element of the dining experience: menu, table setting, wine pairing, staffing, ambiance, and more. Collaborate with the household team to ensure seamless event execution. 5. Household Shopping & Resource Management Handle household shopping, including groceries, cleaning products, and pantry essentials. Source high-quality ingredients and household items aligned with family preferences. Identify opportunities to reduce waste, optimize inventory, and stay within budget.
Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Personal Chef in a private household setting. Strong culinary foundation and expertise in menu planning and kitchen operations. Flexibility and enthusiasm for international travel. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to lead, mentor, and work collaboratively with household staff. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient in basic computer applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, shared calendars).
