Ditch Witch:
This employee supports thePerry Campus and works in the cardboard bailing and trash compactorarea. This position reports directly to the Supervisor forCustodial Support. He or she will also perform other duties asassigned. What Will You Do?
- Gathers, loads, and compactscardboard.
- Empties the trash dumpsters and compacts contents fordisposal.
- Operates the sweeper/scrubber, forklift or “whizbang.
- Performs routine service on PIE (powered industrial equipment).
- Drives various company vehicles (cars or light pick-ups).
- Assistswith company events by moving office furniture, setting up, tearingdown and cleaning up.
- Performs multiple tasks that requireoverhead reaching throughout workday. What Do You Need?
- Highschool diploma or equivalent required.
- Have appropriate reading,clerical, and basic math skills. This includes the ability tounderstand written instructions, record transactions accurately,and perform basic calculations.
- Must have a good driving record
- Able to regularly handle items weighing up to 50 pounds, andoccasionally push/pull items weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Able towork overtime on very short notice.
- Have a good work record,including indications of strong self-motivation, high productivity,reliable attendance, attention to quality, ability to learn newskills, and a cordial, cooperative personality.
- Workindependently much of the time, with limited supervision.
- Throughbehavior and communication, maintain positive relationships withcustomers, clients, supervisors, and co-workers. Work Environment
- Manufacturing plant conditions (indoors, variable temperature andhumidity, noise, and dirt).
- Exposure to outdoors in all weatherconditions.
- Physical hazards such as powered vehicle, bicycle,and pedestrian traffic, overhead storage, and materials handling.
- Working with hazardous materials, including LPG, solvents, oils,grease, acids, caustics, paints, and batteries.
- A variable workschedule (up to 12 hours with overtime paid after 8 hours per day)and some work on Saturdays.
