Positions allocated to this class report to a designated supervisor and works under close supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from other classes by its emphasis on recreational instruction and activities leadership work of a temporary nature.
Job Description:
Tasks to be performed may include but not limited to:
Participate in mandatory orientation training.
Assist with oversight and planning of recreational activities such as fitness & wellness, cultural arts, field trips and other related programming.
Supervise individual campers and small groups of various ages while maintaining the cleanliness of activity areas.
Ensure adherence to standard and established safety policies, procedures, guidelines, and operating requirements.
Conduct routine maintenance and custodial tasks of assigned recreation facility. To be considered for this position you must have:
Turned sixteen years of age before the established start date for Summer Camp or graduated from High School or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
At least six (6) months of experience volunteering, teaching, leading or instructing children in an organized recreational or childcare setting or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Ability to pass Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) background check upon appointment and as requested.
Transportation to all program sites and ability work various hours between 6:30am and 6:30pm and availability to work June 3 through August 1.
Required Certifications or Licenses:
Valid Florida Driver’s License is required upon appointment. The employee must have a valid driver’s license to drive their personal vehicle or a company vehicle as required by the employer to various worksite locations. American Red Cross certification (or equivalent) in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid is required upon appointment.
