: 3 ($15.00/Hourly – Starting) The City of Gulf Breeze Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to the provision of superior parks and facilities; diverse leisure opportunities; and attractive thoroughfares that serve to enhance the quality of life of our residents, our neighbors and our guests. Our facilities include a 44,000 square foot community center; a comprehensive athletic complex and tennis facility; disc golf; a skate park; multiple community parks, fishing piers, boardwalks, picnic facilities, public beaches, boat launches; and several natures preserves and trails… encompassing over 500 acres of land.
General Description:
Reporting to the Recreation Manager, this position is responsible for the facilitation of organized recreation activities of the Community Center / Shoreline Park.
Essential Job Functions:

- Monitor and assist in the management of the Community Center and Shoreline Park activities and events
- Assist with operations of all facilities for team sports, recreation programs and external groups
- Assist in the set up and break down of rooms, goals, nets, scoreboards, field maintenance, etc
- Assist in the capacity of scorekeeper, field hand, or concession worker in the absence of scheduled workers as needed
- Maintain records of program specific attendance, rental fees and problems and solutions
- Assist with front desk operations in the form of customer service; over the phone, and in person, cash handling and facility inquiries
- Monitor and supply restrooms as needed
- Assist with the cleanliness and organization of all areas utilized during operating hours
REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
- Knowledge of basic recreation and facility operations
- Basic use of electronic equipment including compute, phone, timeclock, printer, etc
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public, players, coaches and vendors
- Must possess excellent customer service skills
- Skills in oral and written communication
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- The Rec Assistant works under direct supervision of the Recreation Manager or other assigned center staff
- This position involves tasks related to recreation, athletic programs, event set up and management and facility operations
- This position routinely interacts with co-workers; recreation participants, individually and in groups, youth and adult; vendors; media and the general public
- Work is performed with intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, walking
- Must be able to frequently lift heavy objects and distinguish between shades of color

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma
- Related experience in parks and recreation programs
