POSITION TITLE
Food Service Director
REPORTS TO

QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree in Food Management, a related field, or relevant experience in lieu of degree
- Minimum of three (3) years’ management experience in Food Service, preferably with a school district
- ServSafe Certification
- Knowledge of HACCP
- Current and active member of the School Nutrition Association or ability to become a member
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
- Computer competency with spreadsheet, word processing and Food Service software programs
JOB DESCRIPTION
To oversee and direct all activities related the Food Service operation of the District, including but limited to: procurement, financial administration, nutritional menu-planning, catering/vendor operations, facility management and student services within compliance measure set by local, state and federal government. And to enhance student wellness through the direction of planned, nutritional meals with an emphasis on nutrition education.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES
- Supervise the operation of all school-based Food Service operations, ensuring compliance with all state and local Health Department and Food and Nutrition Services requirements
- Responsible for the effective and safe operation of all program equipment, including overseeing maintenance contracting, emergency repairs, keeping documentation and equipment logs as necessary, equipment replacement planning, and ensuring all locations are state inspection compliant (F371)
- Enforce all applicable State Food Service Program requirements, including nutritional requirements, reimbursement requirements, and required State paperwork (Inventory Sheets, Reimbursement Forms, Free and Reduced Forms).
- The management of the Free and Reduced Meals process, including the application process, the determination process, the verification process, and the State reporting process.
- Plan and publish school lunch menus, standardize portions served, and ensure high nutritional quality and the cleanliness of the operation to meet sanitation guidelines
- Interview, hire, supervise, develop and evaluate all Food Service staff. Secure suitable substitute workers to cover employee absences
- Direct all activities relating to the School Breakfast, National School Lunch, and Commodities Distribution Programs
- Oversee the purchase and inventory of all foods, supplies and equipment. Develop specifications and requests for bids for the purchase of quality food, supplies, and equipment. Support the Business Administrator in the preparation of all bid packages. Secure vendors under contract for all purchases.
- The financial management of the program, including cost of meals, recommendation of prices, annual budget development, controlling of expenditures, and overseeing of daily cash and bank depositing.
- Attend Wellness Committee meetings
- Apply for federal funds to support the school lunch program
- Incorporation of student grown produce into the school menu
- Enforce financial reporting as established by USDA, USDOE and the NHDOE
- Develop and recommend changes in policy and procedures as it related to the Food Service Department
- Maintain the POS System and oversee the food service computer system in conjunction with the IT Department
- Compile all information and paperwork necessary for the annual financial audit
