Founded in 1887, our institution provides a unique learning environment that fosters independence and growth for children and young adults across western Pennsylvania. Summary We are seeking a Dietary Lead for our evening shift. This position will report to the Manager of the Dietary Department here at our school, assisting with guidance, food handling/prep, and can step into other roles as needed during the evening hours. Shift Time Sundays – Thursdays from 10:00am to 6:00pm Responsibilities Lead evening dietary operations and support staff training in coordination with the Manager Ensure proper food handling, meal prep, sanitation, and accurate documentation Serve as evening shift point of contact and provide real-time guidance to staff Step into roles as needed (cook, aide, cashier) Ensure compliance with NSLP, IDDSI, and food safety standards Review production records, logs, and checklists Operate commercial kitchen equipment (ex. combi) Identify and report issues, concerns, or recommendations to the Manager Requirements High school diploma required; culinary degree or certificate preferred Prior experience in school food service strongly preferred Knowledge of National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and IDDSI standards preferred Food Safety Certificate required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire Must obtain clearances as required by Acts 34, 114, and 151 If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of visually impaired children and have the leadership skills to guide our dedicated team, we invite you to apply for the Shift Leader position at the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children!
