As a BPC Specialist, you will assist the BPC, Investigations, Support, and Special Investigations Units.

Job Duties:
  • Receive a high volume of calls from a diverse population of employers and claimants concerning fraud, overpayment, and general claims issues
  • Conduct preliminary fact-finding to determine if issues need to be routed to investigators
  • Answer technical questions regarding the status of unemployment claims, wage record discrepancies, claims procedures, or problems that prevent claims processing
  • Review requests for waiver of recovery of an overpayment to determine cause of overpayment and debtor’s financial hardship; issue decision to allow or deny waiver request
  • Review documents to detect a variety of issues which may affect eligibility for unemployment insurance
  • Act as the authorized representative and expert witness in Administrative Hearings, preparing all evidentiary documentation that will be used
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two years’ experience doing administrative research including compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action or decide eligibility or compliance with program guidelines and regulations
Note:

College-level coursework may substitute for the experience on the basis of 45-quarter units per year of experience

  • Experience determining program compliance within an agency or employer’s guidelines and regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a wide range of internal/external customers
  • Demonstrated experience to produce a large amount of varied work with accuracy
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Demonstrated experience to set timelines; prioritize workload; and manage tasks to meet deadlines with frequent interruptions
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel) in a fast& #8209;paced, open office environment with frequent distractions
  • Experience successfully working with people from varied backgrounds, and working through interpersonal conflicts, sensitive issues, or problems
