DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Retirement Benefits Specialist Supervisor, you will provide guidance and oversight for employees who process a wide-range of benefit-related calculations. Specific examples include retirement benefits for accounts with domestic relation orders to determine the percentage of marital property allocated to the alternate payee, and the benefit amount distributed to the plan member. Supervision will also be exercised over staff who process retirement benefits, pre-retirement and post-retirement death benefits, and plan member terminations. Work includes interpreting the provisions of the Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System’s laws, codes, rules, regulations, board policies, court orders, and legal opinions as they apply to benefit payments. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with PMRS management, other personnel, and internal and external clients to disseminate accurate and timely information. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment + Work hours are 7:45 AM to 4 :15 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. +
Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. +

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ One year as a Retirement Benefits Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ;or + One year as a Retirement Technician Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ;or + A bachelor’s degree and one year of technical experience in the processing of benefits payments ; or + An equivalent combination of experience and training, which included one year of technical experience in the processing of benefits payments.
