Job Description
HR Assistant 2.8 2.8 out of 5 stars Meriden, CT 06450 Our client in Meriden, CT is seeking an HR Assistant to support their plant operations! This contracted role will be focused on fulfilling staffing needs, providing HR assistance to managers and employees, and helping to drive business success through performance improvements. The HR Assistant will play a key role in creating a safe, efficient, and cost-effective workforce while ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities:
Staffing & Scheduling:
Coordinate daily and weekly staffing schedules to meet production targets and reduce labor costs. Work with temporary staffing agencies to ensure timely personnel planning, with a 3-day minimum target for placement. Collaborate with Plant Supervisors and Production Planners to streamline staffing needs and minimize reliance on temporary workers. Address scheduling issues and propose solutions, such as cross-training in key positions or resolving product conflicts.
Workforce Development:
Manage a pool of temporary workers and track their progress toward potential full-time hire. Conduct new employee orientations for temporary staff. Monitor employee skills and work with the Continuous Improvement (CI) team to recommend training or position adjustments.
Administrative Support:
Reconcile daily time punches for temporary staff and ensure accuracy in payroll. Monitor and report on temporary staffing agency performance and provide feedback for improvement. Oversee hiring processes for temporary staff, ensuring timely completion from screening through probationary periods. Assist with the employee referral program’s hiring and interviewing processes. Generate attendance warnings in line with company policies. Investigate and resolve payroll or scheduling issues in ADP. Schedule and conduct new hire orientations as required.
Job Requirements:
1-3 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (preferably in food manufacturing). At least 1 year of experience as a recruiter or supervisor. Must be bilingual in English and Spanish (both written and spoken). Strong multitasking abilities and problem-solving skills. Ability to work on your feet for extended periods. Proficiency in basic computer skills.
