OVERVIEW
As a member of Feeding South Florida’s® Operations Team, the Warehouse Training and Development Instructor (WTDI) is responsible for executing and growing the Warehouse Training Program and tracking our Workforce Development initiatives. The program provides hands-on logistics and operations training to prepare individuals for a career in the warehousing industry, equipping graduates and FSF associates with the essential knowledge and skills to operate heavy equipment machinery, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and cherry pickers. Additionally, this training provides students with the skills necessary to explore employment opportunities and advance career growth. The WTDI will be responsible for creating a supportive atmosphere in which participants are empowered to further their professional development and economic mobility.
Compensation:
$50,000 – $58,000 per year
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate all aspects of the Warehouse Training curriculum including planning, implementation, and evaluation. Create, design, and develop instructional curriculum as needed. Coach and support students in the Warehouse Training Program from the start, through graduation and alumni relations. Educate students and FSF associates on best practices in OSHA Warehouse Safety, Food Safety, Equipment Operation, and Inventory Management. Adapt instructional methods and materials to meet the learning styles of students when needed. Work in collaboration with Workforce Training Manager and case managers to support students’ progress, retention, and success throughout the curriculum and beyond. Maintain accurate and complete student records on attendance, daily activities, and performance and enter data into the program dashboard. Conduct regular audits of the training process to identify areas of improvement. Complete evaluations for all training participants, communicate progress to internal stakeholders and participants, and document outcome-based metrics. Provide constructive feedback to students and FSF associates to increase skills and abilities. With support from Workforce Training Manager, coordinate graduation ceremony and alumni relations for program graduates. Maintain a positive work environment with high standards in safety, cleanliness, and skill development. Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment. Assist management as necessary.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience which provides an equivalent background. Minimum four years of warehousing experience and two years in a supervisory role. Two years’ experience in an instructor/trainer role, training a minimum of 8 students at a time Ability to demonstrate, knowledge and experience in warehousing practices and procedures, including safety procedures, equipment operation, computer system skills, and inventory analysis. Ability to create, design, and develop instructional curriculum. Experience in a food storage warehouse environment preferred. Sensitivity to diverse populations with sound judgment and the ability to serve people in a compassionate, patient, friendly, and courteous manner, showing sincere interest in people’s concerns. Strong coaching and leadership skills with the ability to take initiative. Attention to detail and ability to think quickly and act decisively. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with comfort and ability to speak publicly and teach others. Positive attitude, flexibility, and a good sense of humor. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) preferred. Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish, English/Creole).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours of Operation:
The organization hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position may work additional hours occasionally throughout the year, especially during peak times such as holiday seasons, and disaster response.
Environment:
This position works in a warehouse setting with varying periods of standing, talking, and/or visual concentration, and use of office equipment. Must maintain office and warehouse safety standards. The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Travel:
This position may have occasional travel for meetings, conferences, or special events which may require the use of a personal vehicle. OSHA Standards Lifting requirements are 50 pounds and when lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load.
