Status:
Part-time, (up to 20 hours/week); Non-exempt level (additional hours may be available for part-time position) Grant-funded Funded for a minimum of two (2) years
Hourly Rate:
$17.00
- $19.
00 per hour.
Benefit Status:
Paid time off benefits for full-time position such as vacation, holidays, and sick time. Other benefits may apply.
- Some pro-rated paid time off benefits apply to the part-time position.
Position Summary:
This position will assist with conducting training sessions to assist older adults, persons with mobility impairments, and refugees to access fixed-route public transportation. Training sessions will be designed for small groups and individuals, with initial focus on conducting individualized one-on-one training sessions. The Travel Trainer will also be responsible for utilizing all documentation systems, including the initial interview and application process, needs assessments, training plans, program and client progress, training certifications, follow-up, and all other related documentation. The trainer’s primary responsibilities include identifying training needs, implementing travel training programs, and developing personalized plans for safe public transportation access. Key tasks involve conducting intake assessments, maintaining communication with clients and service providers, keeping records of participants’ progress, and providing follow-ups as needed. Additionally, the trainer will support outreach efforts, assist with maps and schedules, co-teach in-service training, and maintain documentation and reporting systems to analyze and improve the Travel Training Program.

Qualification Requirements/Education and Experience:
- Candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and relevant experience.
Essential skills include training in one-on-one and small group settings, strong communication and organizational abilities, and professionalism. Experience in data interpretation, reading regulations, and report writing is required. The ability to work independently, pay attention to detail, prioritize tasks, and maintain documentation is critical, along with a strong work ethic and self-motivation.

Language Skills:
- Proficiency in English is required; bilingual Spanish is preferred. Ideal candidates will have three years of experience with older adults or persons with disabilities and an Associate’s Degree in Human Services.
