We started eleven years ago and have proven, using our unique model, that we can successfully integrate autistic individuals into the workforce. Spectrum Works’ mission is to provide job training, internships, and employment opportunities to young autistic adults and help companies build more inclusive workplaces. About the Role This is an exceptional opportunity for a hands‐on person to play a significant role in realizing Spectrum Works’ mission and vision. The Job Coach will provide guidance, leadership and coaching to autistic program participants while implementing the Spectrum Works model in partner companies. In addition, the Job Coach/ Employment Specialist helps develop curriculum and coordinates special projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train autistic program participants
  • Assist with the development of goal plans and performance reviews
  • Assist with the creation of course curriculum including job readiness, social skills, career development and specialty curriculum.
  • Work closely with Program Managers and job coaches to assure program participants growth
  • Complete monthly participant progress reports
  • Develop clear instructions for all program participants job tasks
  • Work closely with partner company staff to gain an understanding of program participants’ responsibilities Other Responsibilities
  • Assist with company branding materials
  • Help with office administration and IT
  • Assist with Graphic Design projects (for job coaches with design expertise)
  • Complete company research projects
  • Coordinate Special Projects
KEY QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and an understanding of youth development. You have energy, commitment, and passion and are capable of helping autistic individuals reach their potential.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Nonprofit Management or related fields.
  • If degree is not in the above-mentioned areas, then a minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Passion for the mission and a desire to help Spectrum Works impact the lives of autistic individuals

  • Ability to adapt to different program participants’ learning styles and changes in behavior
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytic skills, organization, planning, and implementation skills
  • Highly motivated to achieve, with the ability to solve problems and overcome obstacles
  • Ability to be self‐motivated and work independently, consistently reporting back to management
  • Must be able to pass a background check SKILLS
Required:

Microsoft Teams, WORD, Excel, and PowerPoint

    A Plus:

    Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, Video editing, Graphic Design, One Drive, Google Suite, Social Media experience

    MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

    4-year degree required.

    REPORTING
    • The Job Coach/Employment Specialist reports to the Program Director.
    CLASSIFICATION

    Exempt

    POSITION TYPE

    Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Occasional Events which take place after 4:30pm or on the weekends. (Part-Time positions are also available). TRAVEL Travel is expected within New Jersey to/from partner companies and events.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The work environment is at Spectrum Works’ office and at partner companies company locations. The noise level in the work environment can be high.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands include standing for multiple hours, sitting, bending, driving (driving program participants is not allowed).

    BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS
    • Employees are required to submit to a criminal background check and be determined to be not disqualified by the Department of Human Services prior to working with individuals served.
    • Employees must agree to submit to drug testing prior to employment.
